Homemade Fruit Roll Ups
As my son transitioned to food and milk at one year I quickly realized he had a huge appetite. It was hard to keep him full and I soon introduced a pretty large size snack time in the late afternoon. I have been very committed to homemade food for him to avoid preservatives and unhealthy ingredients. So, I needed to get creative with our snack time for a good variety of healthy snack options.
Well, we get some amazing fresh strawberries locally that are delicious. My son LOVES strawberries. So, I found a creative way to use our strawberries that would be a new snack to introduce. I decided to make fruit roll ups. Let me tell you, they turned out so tasty! It was a great way to give him a sweet treat without all the preservatives, dye, artificial flavors.
The best part? Only TWO ingredients! Just fruit and your sweetener of choice.
Here are the steps:
Cut 4 cups of strawberries and place them into food processor. Blend until chopped
Add 1 cup of your sweetener of choice. I chose homemade applesauce, but honey or pure cane sugar are both great options too!
Blend until a smooth puree consistency.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and spread your mixture on your cookie sheet.
Bake for 4-5 hours on 170 degrees.
Let cool at room temperature.
Cut your parchment paper into strips and roll up your fruit leather.
This recipe is so tasty. You must give this a try. If you are like me and love the use of fresh ingredients, then this recipe will not disappoint.
