Our Story
We want to take a minute or two to share a little something about ourselves.
About 20 years ago my Mom began her gardening journey. Carol, who is also known to us as mom, designed a garden space to fill her anticipated free time as her children grew up and started their own lives. She knew very little about gardening so she became a self taught gardener. Before we knew it we were all helping her with this new found interest. Her desire to teach her children about vegetable gardening became a focus for her. Of course this was all done behind the role of being a mom which was most important to her. As a nurse she combined being our Mom with good eating and nutrition. She prepared the majority of meals and we ate out very little. We all enjoyed going to the garden and picking fresh vegetables for dinner. The baskets of vegetables and fruits was enjoyed by all of us, fresh or canned, year-round, and we knew there were no chemicals! My mom continues with her garden today. Her newest adventure this year is the construction of a greenhouse. She has always wanted a greenhouse to extend her gardening season. She and my dad will work side by side and construct it theirselves.
Fast forward 27 years and my desire as a new mom have intersected with those of my mom. I will teach my children all that I have learned throughout the years in our family garden. With a passion and a green thumb, we want to share our journey with you. We will share all kinds of gardening tips, gardening with children, canning ideas, recipes and lessons learned from these experiences. Gardening is about enjoying the outside, getting away from the electronic screens, and soaking up the outdoors. We grow a fair amount of what we eat and I want my children appreciating scratch healthy foods and staying away from processed foods filled with unhealthy additives. Healthy foods are important to me and for my family and we want to pass our tips on to you.
